Privacy Policy for Scan2PDF
Your documents are yours alone. Everything stays on your device.
Last Updated: March 02, 2026
Scan2PDF ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application designed to provide high-quality document scanning, PDF creation, and file management tools. Our app includes features like AI-powered text recognition (OCR), PDF merging, splitting, and secure document storage.
Privacy is at the core of Scan2PDF. This policy outlines our commitment to your data security.
Our Privacy Philosophy: Local-First
Unlike many other scanner apps, Scan2PDF does not use cloud-based processing. Every document you scan and every PDF you create is processed 100% locally on your smartphone. Your data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it yourself.
1. Information We Collect
Scan2PDF is designed to be fully functional without collecting any personal data.
A. Personal Information
We do not require you to create an account or provide an email address to use the app. We do not collect your name, phone number, or location data.
B. Document Data
The documents, images, and PDFs you process within the app are stored exclusively in your device's local storage or your private cloud storage (like Google Drive) if you manually export them.
2. App Permissions
To provide our services, the app requests the following permissions:
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | Required to scan documents and capture images. |
| Storage / Files | Required to save your PDFs and import existing files. |
| Gallery / Photos | Allows you to convert existing photos into PDFs. |
| OCR (Text Recognition) | Performed locally on-device to extract text from scans. |
3. Data Security
Since we do not transmit your documents to any external servers, your data is as secure as your device itself. We recommend using device-level security (PIN, FaceID, or Fingerprint) to protect the content of your phone.
4. Analytics & Third-Party Services
A. Google Analytics for Firebase
To improve Scan2PDF and provide a better user experience, we use Google Analytics for Firebase. This service collects anonymized data such as:
- App usage patterns (e.g., which features are used most)
- Device type and OS version
- App crashes and performance logs
- General geographic region (not precise location)
IMPORTANT: Google Analytics does NOT collect, scan, or have access to any of your documents, photos, or the text extracted via OCR.
B. Cloud Exports
The app allows you to manually export or share documents to third-party services (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox). Once shared, your data is subject to the privacy policy of those respective providers.
5. Data Deletion & User Control
Because Scan2PDF does not store any of your data on our servers, we cannot "delete" your data for you. You have absolute control over your information:
- To delete specific documents, use the 'Delete' function within the app's history.
- To delete all data, you can clear the app's cache and storage in your device settings or simply uninstall the application.
- All locally stored documents are permanently removed when the app is uninstalled.
6. GDPR & International Compliance
Scan2PDF is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other international privacy frameworks by design. Since we do not collect personal data on any servers, your rights—including the right to access, rectify, or erase your data—are exercised through your direct control of the app on your device.
7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Scan2PDF does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13. The app is designed for a general audience and does not feature any social sharing or account creation that would require identifying information.
8. Jurisdiction & Legal Entity
Scan2PDF is developed and operated by Staksoft. Any legal inquiries, disputes, or claims related to this Privacy Policy shall be governed by the laws of our primary operating jurisdiction, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
